Expired: Addition Guidelines

When your characters enter Decollage their memories/skills take form outside them, and add to the world!  The application will ask for what this addition will be.  So, to give you a more solid idea of what’s being asked of you:

Good ideas:

Threats:
You can add a monster from home.  A Final Fantasy character can show up and the upper level of the tower will now contain Tonberries.  Harry Potter could drag in Boggarts, that can be found hiding in more deserted areas of Decollage.

Locations:
To use the Harry Potter example again, the room of requirement.  The only recommendation here is to not pick something too big.  If you do, you may be asked to change it and have to pick again, so just realise that even if you ask for AND NOW DECOLLAGE HAS THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA it might not happen.  If we think it’s a cool thing that fits the game’s themes we’re more likely to say yes.

Resources:
Decollage is pretty empty right now!  Materia that could be mined might not be a bad idea, but basic things like a Penguindrum character adding apples to the orchard are also probably a good one.  Just because your character comes from a more mundane canon doesn’t mean they don’t have anything to add.

Bad ideas:

Sentient beings:
Your memories/skills are taking form, becoming a replica of whatever was important to you, but your memories can probably not perfectly recreate a god or your most important person.  Also, this opens up the can of worms of needing someone to play them, ect.  Don’t do it, bad idea.

New mechanics that affect the whole world:
...I need to think of a shorter way to put that!  But, basically: you’re adding to the world, not changing it.  You cannot override the conventions already set in place.  Things like WHOLE WORLD PERPETUAL BLIZZARD are not going to be accepted, while a cold pocket of terrible snow is more reasonable.  Mechanics like and now everyone can do magic are also not going to be accepted, especially when that circumvents what the skill loss option is there for: if they can just go around it so easily it’s not very effective.  Things that effect everyone are generally not going to be allowed.  You can’t app Mary from Ib and have NOW EVERYONE NEEDS A ROSE IT REPRESENTS THEIR HP as a thing.

OTHER NOTES:
It’s up to the mods how to actually implement your addition.  If you say DRAGONS!! the mods can decide well okay they will exist over in this area and not be very common. :|a  You won’t control where they show up, how common they are, ect, as that could quickly lead to a headache if incompatible elements are introduced, or if it ratchets up the difficulty level of an area too high or drops it too low.
